The Los Elementos Ensemble was founded in 2018 with the aim of performing for the first time on period instruments the zarzuela “Vendado es Amor, no es ciego”, by the composer José de Nebra (1702-1768), one of the greatest exponents of the Spanish Baroque.
Founded by Alberto Miguélez Rouco , the ensemble is composed of musicians of different nationalities, most of them linked to the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis in Switzerland.
The group's main objectives are the interpretation, recovery, and dissemination of Spain's rich musical heritage, particularly that of the 18th century.
In 2019, the group recorded “Vendado es Amor, no es ciego” by José de Nebra in collaboration with the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis for the Glossa record label, a recording that received excellent feedback both nationally and internationally, leading the ensemble to perform this zarzuela at the Friends of the Opera Festival in A Coruña in 2020.
Alberto Miguélez Rouco's second album, "Cantadas," a solo album dedicated to the sacred works of José de Nebra and Francisco Corselli, was released in 2021. The zarzuela "Donde hay violencia, no hay culpa," also by José de Nebra, was released in October 2022, marking the world premiere recording of the work.
In 2024, the recording of “Venus y Adonis” followed, another work by José de Nebra, which obtained excellent awards and mentions, including “Record of the Month” from the magazines Scherzo and Limelight , “Diapason Découverte” from the French magazine Diapason , and the prestigious “Preis der deutschen Schallplattenkritik” in the “Opera” category.
Los Elementos has an intense concert activity, which has led them to perform at the Auditorio Nacional and the T eatro de la Zarzuela (Madrid), Festival Bal y Gay , Festival Pablo Casals , Festival de Saintes , Stockholm Early Music Festival , Festival Barocco in Rome, Innsbrucker Festwochen der Alte Musik .

From the agile and tense overture, it is worth highlighting the work of the violinist Claudio Rado in leading the ensemble, with a one-per-part instrumental group and without a conventional conductor on stage.

Handel’s Sonata in D major for violin shone
with a special brilliance, interpreted with sobriety

Rado, flexible, fluid, expressive yet sober,
often took the leading voice and blended perfectly
with the other performers.
